CHENNAI: The city police are on the lookout for the suspects in two burglaries reported in the city on Monday.
In an incident at Thirumangalam, R Manivannan of Sathyasai Nagar, who runs a photo studio in the front portion of his house, woke up to some noise around 11.30pm on Sunday and saw 10 men trying to break open his shop’s shutter.
On seeing Manivannan close in on them, the gang hurled stones at him, and his mother and son who came along before fleeing with a DSLR camera worth ?47,000 and a smartphone of Manivannan.
Based on a complaint, the Tirumangangalam police registered a case and have launched a hunt for the suspects.
Cops are skimming through the CCTV camera footage collected from shops in the vicinity.
Meanwhile in Koyambedu, unidentified people broke open a cellphone service centre on the Koyambedu market premises and escaped with two sound systems and several used cellphones.
N Mohammed Saleem, 47, of Nerkundram, who owns the shop, told police that his business has been shut since May 6, after the Koaymbedu market was shut due to it being a Covid hotspot. He visited the shop on Monday morning and found the shop broken into and valuables stolen. Based on his complaint, the Koyambedu police have registered a case.
