Following the release of the first build of Android 11 Beta, Googles official Reddit handle /u/androidbetaprogram has posted that Android Messages will be working with Android 11s new Bubbles API over the next month.
For those who are enrolled in the Android Messages Beta app through the Play Store, you can expect Bubbles in the next week or two. Of course, those users will need to be running the Android 11 Beta.
Android 11 will enable third party apps to use Bubbles, a new API that lets an app minimize its instance into a floating circle thats drawn over the UI. As a new notification comes in, the Bubbled app opens over another app thats currently open. You can expect this experience to be akin to Chat Heads on Facebook Messenger.
Back in December, Google was discovered to be testing a floating Bubbles feature.
The post also explains that Bubbles is a feature controlled by the application, so app developers must enable Bubbles for their third-party apps.
I personally dont like Chat Heads, and I find the Bubbles features to be potentially obtrusive and clogs the interface. What do you think of this new Android 11 feature? Do you see this kind of feature convenient of a nuisance?
