Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition is the Xiaomi’s truly transparent television!

Xiaomi today celebrated its tenth anniversary by launching some new interesting products to its ever-growing portfolio. Apart from the expected Mi 10 Ultra, the Chinese smartphone maker ended up revealing Redmi K30 Ultra as well. While both the devices are quite powerful and worthy of discussion in itself, the key attraction of the show was the Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition.

Wait! did you just read transparent? Well, Xiaomi has now launched the world’s first mass-produced transparent television. And by transparent, we literally mean transparent.

Xiaomi launches Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition in China

The all-new fascinating television features a large 55-inch transparent OLED screen with a thickness of 5.7mm. Furthermore, the television comes with a high refresh rate of 120Hz which many potential buyers will appreciate. The panel also features a 10-bi t color depth along with a 93% DCI-P3 color gamut. The company is also claiming a screen response time of 1ms.

Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition

Under the hood, the television will make use of the high-end MediaTek 9650 chipset. It also comes with the support of MEMC motion compensation tech along with Dolby Atmos. If you look at the design, then you will see ultra-thin bezels on the side along with a black colored stand unit. As you might have guessed already, the television comes in only single screen size and that makes sense considering how expensive this tech is going to be.

Since we’re on the subject of the price, Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition is going to set you back a whopping 49,999 Yuan which is roughly around $7100. Sadly, there is no information on the availability of the product as of now. We should expect the reveal for that as well in the coming days.

Not the world’s first transparent TV but definitely the mass-produced one!

For those who are wondering if this is the first transparent television in the history of humanity, then you’re wrong. It’s more like the world’s first mass-produced transparent television. Back in 2019, Panasonic introduced its own iteration of transparent television at IFA. As expected, it was more of a prototype and that too not the perfect one – but it was indeed fascinating.

Going back even further straight to 2017, LG introduced its transparent concept television as well at CES. Lastly, Samsung brought its own version as well in the year 2016. With that said, tech companies are working on these transparent OLED panels for a long time. While their version remained a mere concept or prototype, Xiaomi ended up launching its own mass-produced one. We’ll have to wait and see whether this new Mi TV Lux Transparent Edition makes it way globally or not.
