Montenegro ended April with a 170.78 percent mobile telephony penetration rate, down from 174.08 percent a month earlier. The number of users reached 1.05 million, down by 1.90 percent compared to the previous month and by 1.81 percent year-on-year, according to the Agency for Electronic Communications and Postal Activity.
Of the total, 57.96 percent were postpaid users (613,755), with pre-paid accounting for 42.04 percent (445,118). M:tel was market leader with 366,889 mobile customers (34.65%), followed by Crnogorski Telekom with 353,295 (33.37%) and Telenor with 338,689 (31.99%).
The total number of fixed-line connections reached 190,381, up by 0.25 percent on the previous month and by 7.32 percent year-on-year. Crnogorski Telekom accounted for 160,962 customers (56.18% of the total), M:tel had 65,659 (34.49%), Telemach 15,739 (8.27%) and Telenor 2,021 (1.06%).
The number of broadband connections amounted to 181,483, or 0.57 percent more than in the previous month and 12.72 percent more year-on-year. Of the total, FTTx accounted for 66,958, followed by cable with 48,882, VDSL with 30,878, ADSL with 29,383, Wi-Fi with 2,808, WiMax with 2,273 and others with 361. Most subscribers used packages with speeds of 50-100 Mbps (27.33% of the total).
The total number of installed FTTx (FTTH, FTTB) connections rose from 161,679 to 163,117, and the number of active connections amounted to 73,558, up from 72,743. Of this number, FTTH accounted for 73,376 and FTTB for 182.
The number of active pay-TV connections reached 250,754, up from 249,115 the previous month and from 233,139 a year earlier. Cable accounted for 109,695 (43.75% of the total), IPTV for 77,219 (30.79%), DTH for 55,173 (22%) and DVB-T2 for 8,667 (3.46%).
