OnePlus Nord is one of the hottest smartphones right now. Since it is a revival to OnePlus X, which was a budget phone, and after that, we never saw a budget phone from OnePlus. Currently, the likes of Xiaomi and Realme have completely conquered the mid-range market. Hence, From a company that is known for creating “Flagship Killer” devices, we are quite excited about an affordable smartphone, and will it be able to dominate the mid-range phone market? And if the answer is yes, then what is the strategy that OnePlus is going to use? Is OnePlus going with high-performance priority? Or OnePlus Nord Camera setup is their key ingredient?
The specifications are rolling out slowly. Recently, the moniker “Nord” was confirmed in a documentary. Apart from the moniker, we also know a couple of other specifications like Snapdragon 720G, 90Hz AMOLED display, etc. But one of the most anticipated features of this phone is the camera. OnePlus CEO Carl Pei, himself tweeted that the OnePlus Nord will be having a flagship-level camera.

As you can see, Ishan Agarwal, a popular tipster tweeted about the OnePlus Nord camera. A key to better camera quality is stabilization, and as you know the two types of stabilization include EIS and OIS. EIS is Electronic Image Stabilization and mostly mid-range phones feature this solution. This is not the best. However, OIS is Optical Image Stabilization which ensures a very stabilized footage. It is confirmed that OnePlus Nord will feature OIS. Which means you will be able to take the steadiest shots. OIS will also help in improving night photography. Unfortunately, we do not know more about the camera setup as of now.
Focusing On Camera- Perfect Strategy?
Earlier, Carl Pei stated that the OnePlus Nord ‘has three major selling points’: the first is the camera; the second is the user experience; the third is the OnePlus quality. The company hopes to achieve the best condition on these three points. From this statement, we can confirm that the OnePlus Nord is a camera-centric device and I think it is a perfect idea.
As you know, most mid-range devices are focused on performance. Most companies aim at better performance in the mid-range segment. And because of that, there are very few camera-centric devices. Even if megapixel is count is high like 64-MP, we mostly don’t get a telephoto lens. Ultra-Wide sensors are also not great in mid-range smartphones. And hence, this strategy of OnePlus focusing on cameras becomes perfect. Though, OnePlus Nord might get a good competition from the like of Google Pixel 4A, if it ever comes.
