Broadband firm Hyperoptic has a clever new plan to save customers from one of the biggest headaches when switching internet providers – being left without Wi-Fi as you move between the two providers. Hyperoptic, which is available across the country in apartment and office buildings – providing 1Gbps full-fibre connections, will let you order your new broadband package before your current contract ends and freeze any payments until the day you’re ready to flip the switch.
That means whether you’re still in-contract with an existing internet provider, such as BT, Sky, Virgin Media or TalkTalk, you can still choose a plan from Hyperoptic and take delivery of your new router and kit without paying a penny. On the day when your existing plan expires, you can plug-in the new Hyperoptic router and start paying for your new contract.
All that means you shouldn’t find yourself without superfast internet at home – ideal if you’re working from home. Usually, you’ll need to wait for an existing plan to finish before placing an order with a new internet firm – as you’ll be expected to pay immediately. Then you’ll need to wait for the kit to be delivered, which could take days.
Hyperoptic will “defer the service and cost [of their new package] for up to 3 months”. And when you plug everything in and kickstart your new plan three months later, you’ll still benefit from the same “30-day satisfaction period” which is “backed with a price match guarantee.”
As more of us are staying home to work, study and keep in touch with friends and relatives, the ability to switch between broadband providers with almost no downtime is a serious advantage. If you’re unhappy with your current internet provider and want to switch to a firm with faster speeds or bigger data allowances, this could be put Hyperoptic to the very top of your list.
Hyperoptic Managing Director Charles Davies said: “We have launched this switching service to address a big customer pain point. By getting our service up and running concurrently, consumers have a new level of flexibility as well as the comfort and reassurance of knowing that there will be no downtime when their current contract finishes.
“This means they can live their online lives without any interruption.
